We're taking on walk for wishes!

This June we are taking on the walk for wishes kids challenge to raise money for Make-A-Wish UK! 

Make-A-Wish UK grant life-changing wishes for thousands of critically ill children across the UK. Sadly, the number of wish enquiries from seriously ill children with less than a year to live is rising fast.

They need help to meet this urgent demand now - before it’s too late. For families with critically ill children, every day counts.

Your support has the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.

I couldn’t be more proud of my tiny human! It typically takes a 3 year old 45 to 90 minutes to walk one mile, because toddlers have short legs and are easily distracted. Livia averaged 32 minutes per mile, so she really aced it! I am blown away by the kindness and generosity of family, friends, neighbours and even strangers. Livia was gifted treats and ice cream from some wonderful people, she was also waved at and cheered on by so many people. The community spirit coming together for this amazing cause has warmed my heart. It’s a reminder that, despite the doom and gloom in the world right now, most people are in fact good people! Thank you everyone for your support, God bless you all xx

Livia has aced her 30 miles, despite all the set backs and little breaks mid walk, she preserved after busy days at nursery, rugby and ballet. She got back up and carried on in pouring rain at the beginning of the month, and she got back up every evening during a 36c heat wave that frankly feels like walking in a McDonald’s apple pie jumpsuit lol! She carried on after falling over (multiple times unfortunately due to difficulties in her attention and focus). And yes, there was an occasion when the walks got split up into two walks because little legs was very tired, and there may have been a teeeeeeny tiiiiiny bit of bribery on occasion, (every day ending with a “Y”), but she still did it and I couldn’t be more proud of her! This has been quite a challenge, there have been days recently where even I as an adult didn’t want to go out lol! After 12 hours of sweating and not being able to get cool day after day, struggling to sleep in the heat, the last thing I wanted to do was go for a mile long walk with a little dot who takes over an hour to complete a walk that would ordinarily take me about 15 minutes lol! And yet, every single time we get back home, there’s the amazing feeling in the pit of my tummy that says “we did it and it was worth it,” because this charity deserves every penny it gets! I lost a child myself, (Frazier George Burrows), but I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories to look back on. Sadly there’s a lot of families here in the U.K. who have critically ill children that haven’t been able to create lots of wonderful memories for their family to look back on. If the money you’re helping to raise for this charity only helps one little boy or girl to create an amazing memory for their loved ones to look back on years/decades after they say their goodbyes, then it’s worth every step! Our target was a mile a day and 30 miles in the month of June… Livia has done 32 miles now, so we have reached our 30 mile target early… But, there are still a few days left in a June and our challenge is a mile a day so we will keep plodding on for the last four days to complete that challenge, there’s still time to donate so PLEASE share this fundraiser far and wide for that final push. This walking challenge has been more of a challenge than anticipated lol! At the beginning we were soaked through and battered by wind, then the weather suddenly switched to sauna temperatures and Liv switched to go slow mode. Liv has been bruised and scratched up from falling over a few times, and she accidentally tripped Mummy over and left her covered in bruises too lol! On top of al of this, Livia caught a cold! She’s had a few poorly days and her sleep has been badly affected so she’s been tired and grumpy bless her… And yet… She’still got out there and did her “special walk!” Okay it might have taken a lots of stops, and it’s true that she hasn’t exactly been the speediest walker in this challenge, (we have literally been walking a mile in two hours lol), but it’s the equivalent of an adult walking 90 miles in a month with the size of Livia’s little legs and personally I think she is a little star and I couldn’t be more proud!!! There’s not much time left to donate now, so please do share this page far and wide! Sorry for the delay in posting recently, little legs has been a bit under the weather and not sleeping very well bless her. Fear not my amazing sponsors, she has still been plodding on and doing  her walks, albeit very slowly with lots of breaks. I have only been timing the walking time, (not the breaks), but these one mile walks have been taking one to two hours lately. The good news is that she’s not snotty today so hopefully we will pick up the pace a bit. We are well on track for reaching our 30 miles in June for this amazing charity and I couldn’t be more proud of Livia. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. You are all wonderful human beings! God bless you all! ❤️

It felt like a long old walk today for both of us! We waited for a break in the rain. Blue skies, not a cloud in sight, sun beating down, too hot for a coat, so we took a chance and went for it. Half way through the walk and we were soaking wet and rather chilly lol! What a trooper Liv is! ❤️
