I'm fundraising for...
Make-A-Wish® UK, a charity fulfilling wishes for thousands of critically ill children across the UK.
I’ll be part of Hub5 team tackling one of the UK’s toughest endurance challenges: the National Three Peaks Challenge.
Our mission?
To climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours and raise as much money as possible for Make-A-Wish UK.
This event is self funded - so 100% of your donations will go to Make-A-Wish
However to make your donation go even further, for every £1 donated, DPD will match it, doubling the impact of every contribution.
So what does this challenge entail?
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves conquering:
🏔️🏴Ben Nevis – 1,345m
⛰️🏴Scafell Pike – 978m
🏔️🏴Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) – 1,085m
This means that within 24 hours we will cover approximately
23 miles of hiking 🥾
3,408 metres of ascent 🏔️
Over 450 miles of driving between peaks 🚌

Last walk
Thursday 3rd Sep My Final preparations are underway, I leave for Birmingham in the morning once I’ve returned from work. Kit is separated into the three mountains, including multiple torches, energy gels battery packs and several full changes of clothing. Snacks are almost sorted, and the excitement is building Share
Rest and Recovery
Thursday 9th Jul Finding out the hard way this week that rest and recovery are just as important as pushing the training.🥵 I returned from Scotland and straight back to work on Monday which to me meant straight back into training, the heat and intensity of the humidity this week has just left my legs and feet feeling like lead, even with the ice bath 🧊 when I finish, sometimes your body just say nah not today thanks. 😒 Quick trip to the Chiropractor has left me feeling much better. I did get in 10k on Tuesday, a good two days to recover and will go again tomorrow. 💪 Aiming for 5K as I’d like a longer session at the weekend but we shall see. Share
🏴🏔️Ben Nevis
Wednesday 1st Jul My Ben Nevis training run was a big success for me, the personal goal was to complete in 5 hours or under, generally the considered time for Ben Nevis in the challenge. I started very comfortably, although the weather was awful before I knew it I was more than 2km in. I had forgotten that the initial to middle section was rock steps, which rather made me think about adjusting my training slightly. I only stopped twice, one to put a blister plaster on and once at the starr of the snow ❄️and ice covered section to contemplate safety as I was by myself and had stated as 05:00 🤔 Decided I had come this far so was went for it, hit the summit in just under 2 1/2 hours and returned to base to complete the training running 4 hrs 11 minutes. 🏴I have arrived!! 🏴
Sunday 28th Jun I arrived in Scotland this afternoon, nice easy walk to Steall Falls to stretch the legs back out, checked the weather, not looking great but going to go for Ben Nevis tomorrow. 🏔️
How am I going to train living in Cornwall???
Tuesday 23rd Jun Well, living in Cornwall we’re surrounded by hills, but I want to be able to replicate the terrain and physical demands as much as possible. So I found the average gradient of each mountain and will aim to train within that range for most of the time.Thank you
